Over 2000 different types of fruit in the world and the western diet only uses 10% !

I’ve finished my morning walk, and it was a very cold, frosty but beautiful start to the day. To be honest I love getting up early and seeing the sunrise - that was the plan again today, but sometimes you just aren't as lucky as the others!

This time of year the cloud will sit low over the hills, I found a different route to go up Slieve Croob and decided to go there instead of the Mournes, in saying that if I'd gone down to the Mournes I probably would have been above the cloud to see the sunrise, which usually happens.

Slieve Croob is a little lower and the cloud tends to hang over it - nevertheless its still beautiful.

Home early enough for breakfast and refreshed my palate with some pineapple, and a really cool thing about Pineapple - it will provide Bromelain (a great digestive enzyme for protein - essentially breaking food down more effectively and speeds up the chemical reaction which allows us to absorb is easier and better through our digestive tract - point is it’s a winner!).

If pineapple isn’t your thing then think about blueberries, they give you an abundance of antioxidants (for immune support against free radicals), and phytoflainoids. Blueberries are high in Vitamin C and in potassium and have superb anti-inflammatory properties!

A large portion of our population avoid Kale, we tend to go for cabbage, broccoli or cauliflower - Kale has a whole host of B, C and E Vitamins which are all important antioxidant, plus it will give you a BIG dose of Vitamin K & an amazing antioxidant known as Quercetin.

Yellow peppers are also packed full of vitamins, Vitamin A, C and will provide you with a good punch of potassium!

Above is 2 fruits and 2 vegetables - there are OVER 2000 fruits and OVER 1000 vegetables in the world!

Of the 2000 types of fruits in the world the western diet ONLY uses 10%, there is a whole lot more to try and many have unbelievable health benefits.
