Perspective - Keep It Real !!
Let's talk about perspective, and keep it very real.
Eating cleaner, or tidying up your diet will not make dramatic changes over night, you won’t wake up with a flat stomach or a 6 pack, and hammering one single workout will not improve your physique overnight - no matter how many selfies you take, with uses of light and too many filters to count on your fingers and toes !
You may wake up feeling better, more energetic and fresher - and this is the feeling you want to continue on with (so keep doing that), just don’t expect magical changes to happen in 24hrs, not even 48hrs, our bodies need time to adjust.
The primary element for these changes to occur is CONSISTENCY, above and beyond anything else i firmly believe this is the defining factor in you working through those stepping stones to see changes and to keep your goal in sight. Performance will gradually improve, fitness levels increase, recovery levels drop, you’ll get stronger - BUT this won’t happen over night, so keep that in perspective !
With all the above we still seem to beat ourselves up if we miss a workout, eat some fast food and think we’ll put on half a stone overnight - and from talking recently to people this really plays on their minds, to the point they have a double standard, but they know its not logical.
SO, perspective should be this - One great workout and one healthy meal won’t give you a flat stomach (no matter how many filters you use). Skipping one workout and eating something "not-so-healthy" won’t reverse all of your progress.
We do all know this, and we must try to keep this in mind, and not go insane if we miss a workout or eat a dirty greasy burger - keep it in perspective!
It might be a long road, but you’ll get there with consistency, effort, consistency, focus, consistency and consistency, and not forgetting consistency !!
