This may seem like a fairly obvious thing to do but it still surprises me that the majority of people who train and have certain "fitness related goals" don't take the time to prepare their food.
Fail to prepare, then prepare to fail!
Now - if you don't have any specific goals then you may be quite happy to "wing it" in terms of your foods and eat on the go, or rustle up something with whatever you have in the house or if you can stop at a garage / shop during working hours. However this approach could be the ruination to any plans you had laid to change your physique!
Dropping body fat and changing your body composition WILL require forward thinking and preparation - BUT this does not have to be a long winded affair.
Twice or three times a week I will spend literally only 10-15 minutes prepping foods - this saves me so much time and effort and 100% keeps me on track with my nutrition and especially keeps me on top of my fibre!
In my opinion the majority of time our fibre will suffer first before our protein, carb or fat intake - and fibre is ESSENTIAL for a healthy gut and for fat loss.
If you are failing to consume enough fibre then you're ability to absorb and assimilate the other nutrients you are eating will be compromised, no question. High protein diets are naturally acidic therefore without enough fibre present this can disrupt gut health, a point worth noting !
Moving forward if your plan is to change your body composition and drop body fat then I urge you to take the time (literally 10-15 mins every few days) to prepare your foods. This doesn't always need to be full meals - but just as I do, all the prep work done and it literally takes me a few mins to rustle up a superb healthy and nutritious meal!
Take this into next week and you'll see how much this can help you reach your goals.
