When it comes to sports stars they don't come more decorated or bigger than Rory Best.
He has had such an incredible career for both club and country, the most capped Irish hooker with 100 caps and Ulster Rugby caps at a staggering 179!
Having recently retired from the game he hasn't exactly put the feet up and has embarked on a mammoth walk to raise urgently needed money for the Cancer Fund for Children.
Rory has embarked on a huge walk to Mayo to raise money for the Cancer Fund for Children, his aim to raise £500,000 for the charity - a staggering amount !
He started his journey (and it is some journey) this morning from the Cancer Fund for Children’s therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge in Newcastle to the site of a proposed second centre - Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co. Mayo.
The walk is 180 miles, a huge distance to walk!
For every family the charity can support across Ireland there are another six they cannot - this is a harrowing thought and one which we can all help to reduce, simply by donating a few pounds to help Rory and the Charity to urgently build a second facility in Co. Mayo.
Already an incredible £234,075 has been raised and it would be some effort to increase this to near the £500,000 or as close to it - if you can help, PLEASE donate - no matter how small it all helps such a wonderful charity.
The link is here (below) should you wish to donate to this incredible effort, and to an amazing charity that help so many children and their families through so very very difficult times.
Good luck Rory - awesome effort
