Those who train in my group / online sessions or train with me pretty much know the type of mindset I have when it comes to training - and I've seen many people respond to this and grow physically and mentally tougher than ever before !
So what is the 40% Rule?
The 40% Rule is a concept used by the Navy Seals to increase mental toughness & durability under physical stress or pressure. They believe that when your mind is telling you you’re done, you’re really only 40 percent done !
And they have a motto: If it doesn’t suck we don’t do it.
They have a way of forcing recruits to get uncomfortable to figure out what their baseline was and what their comfort level was and just turning it upside-down.
As I always say - get comfortable with being uncomfortable, it's in those dark places when you're spent, done, you’re totally out - that something beautiful happens, you might not immediately see this or maybe identify with it but believe its there!
But surely this is just some sort of marketing mumbo jumbo !
No, studies conducted in 2008 by researchers found that subjects who were given a placebo but told it was caffeine were able to lift 'significantly' more weight than those who were really given caffeine. It’s all in the mind!
There is no way our bodies and minds become limitless, of course we all have a limit - but what it does confirm is the limit we believe we have might only be at a certain percentage of what it actually is ...... and we have a little left, hence the 40% Rule!
Great week of training so far and I’m looking to finishing it off STRONG.
